How to Safely Lighten Dark Skin

Would you like to have a lighter complexion? Perhaps you have discolorations like age spots or other pigmentation blemishes that you’d like to get rid of. In this article I’ll show you how to safely lighten dark skin.

I use the word “safely” on purpose. I want you to pay special attention to it. The skin bleaching industry is not exactly known for having the best interests of the consumer at heart. It’s a cut throat industry that shamelessly preys on people’s insecurities and desires to have more lighter, more beautiful skin.

Toxic and dangerous substances in bleaching creams

In the US a toxic chemical substance Hydroquinone is still one of the most popular active ingredients in creams that are used to lighten dark skin. This substance is banned in the UK. Even though the FDA proposed a ban on it in 2006 because they couldn’t rule out the possibility that it is carcinogenic (causes cancer), Hydroquinone is still not illegal in the US.

Possible side effects include skin irritation, permanent damage to skin fibres and Ochronosis. The latter is a form of hyperpigmentation, meaning it can actually make the skin darker, and this discoloration can be permanent.

Dermatologists maintain it’s perfectly safe. I guess it is up to the individual to decide whether the risks are worth the promised result.

There are other toxic and harmful substances being used in skin lightening creams, including steroids. The fact that your skin will absorb these toxins into your bloodstream, from where it can spread through your entire body and do damage all over, seems to be lost on people.

Safe ways of lightening dark skin

Turn away from chemicals and look to nature for a solution. The extract of an Indian herb, called Extrapone Nutgrass Root (ENR), has become a very popular and effective way to naturally lighten dark skin.

Clinical tests have shown creams containing ENR as an active ingredient to inhibit the production of melanin, the pigment that gives the skin its color, by as much as 40%. As a bonus, ENR was originally formulated as an anti-irritant before its skin lightening properties were discovered. You know it’s going to be gentle on your skin.

So, what will it be? Steroids and toxic chemicals, or a safe and natural herb? The decision is yours, but to me it’s a no-brainer.

Another alternative to consider, probably the safest after all, is just to accept the way you look. Failing that, give a natural Extrapone Nutgrass Root cream a try before you even consider harsher and more dangerous options.
